Student Responsibilities & Etiquette:
Students are expected to help maintain a respectful, safe and focused practice environment by:
Arriving prepared for practice. Please allow enough time for check-in, settling in and gathering any props you may need. When possible, practice on a relatively empty stomach. If eating beforehand is necessary, a lighter meal is generally preferable.
Maintaining personal hygiene and a fragrance-conscious environment. Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes, colognes or other heavily scented products to practice. Fragrances may create significant health risks or discomfort for students and practitioners with asthma, allergies, migraines or chemical sensitivities. Wear comfortable, unrestricted clothing appropriate to the practice.
Limiting electronic distractions. Phones and other electronic devices should be turned off or silenced before practice and stored away from your immediate practice space whenever possible.
Setting up with consideration for others. Gather needed blankets, mats or other props and arrange your practice area so that those around you also have adequate and comfortable room to move.
Informing your teacher of relevant considerations before practice, including injuries, physical limitations or other needs that may affect participation.
Remaining present during practice. Help maintain a quiet and focused atmosphere and minimize unnecessary conversation. Plan to remain through the end of practice whenever possible. If you must leave the room, do so quietly and discreetly.
Participating respectfully and within your own capacity. Honor your body's limits, use modifications or rest when needed, and remain mindful of your movements and the practice space of those around you.
Using modifications and alternatives as needed. Students are welcome to ask for modifications, and teachers may offer alternatives during practice.
Following reasonable guidance related to safety and the practice itself. When a question is not urgent, please wait for an appropriate rest period or until after practice whenever possible so the flow of the group is not unnecessarily interrupted.
Caring for the space after practice. Fold and return blankets and other shared props, clean your personal area, and remove or dispose of anything you brought into the space. We favor a carry-in/carry-out approach whenever practical.
Respect the privacy, boundaries, belongings and practice of other students.
